Their past will become their future. Their scars will be reopened.
Clark Layton has the world at his feet. He is the CEO of one of the largest oil companies in the world and he has a fiancée most men would kill for. Then why, the night before his wedding, is he still thinking about everything he lost when he walked out on Dayna Cross?
Dayna didn’t intend to take the helm of Subsea Petroleum. But events beyond her control left her no choice. And she can handle it, mostly. She can juggle the long hours, the chauvinistic men, and a broken heart. What she can’t deal with is Clark Layton swanning back into her life and threatening to break down her walls.
They are rival CEOs and they are in a dogfight for a lucrative new pipeline. But as truths of their past begin to surface, business won’t be the biggest battle they enter into.

About The Author
Laura Carter is the bestselling author of the Vengeful Love series. She was a full time lawyer until the book world grabbed hold of her and never let her go. Now, she is a hybrid author, publishing traditional and indie titles. She writes full time from her beach home in the Caribbean where she lives with her husband and (beautiful) dog. She loves all things romance—the more angsty the better—dry martinis and dark chocolate.

Oh wow! What a ride! I loved this book!
The story centres around Clark and Dayna. They were involved in the past but circumstances forced them apart and now they are left with regret and antagonism but deep feelings still remain. They are both high flyers in the oil industry and I suppose that it is inevitable that their paths will cross again but how will they react with everything in their past standing between them?
This book really had it all. It was fast paced with suspense, angst and plenty of hot romance. Their was danger and action but plenty of high emotions too. I loved Dayna and Clark and the connection that they had. Their attraction leapt off the pages and was scorching hot. They were both strong with seemingly perfect exteriors but each had their own vulnerabilities and baggage to deal with. They were great multi faceted, well written characters that I could instantly connect with. All the supporting characters were also good and added their own parts to the story well.
I devoured this is one sitting and was drawn into the plot immediately. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me gripped. I liked how it showed that everything in life, and in business, is not always black and white but somewhere in between and that love can come through adversity. It was well written and flowed along at a good pace.
I've read the vengeful love trilogy by Laura Carter and loved it so I was looking forward to this. If anything I'd say I enjoyed this a little bit more. I definitely was not disappointed.
This was a great read. I would definitely recommend.
