Refused to Reign
After his father’s death, Reider relinquished reign of the wolf pack to his brother Geoff, leaving everything—including Sable—behind, but refused to let go of the one thing his father ever gave him: the amulet that symbolized leadership. Six months later, Geoff is missing and the Conclave has called him to the Hotel Paranormal. They want him to take control of the Great Basin pack or hand over the amulet reserved for the alpha of the Great Basin Pack. Reider quickly learns the amulet is coveted by many.
Can Reider unravel the mystery and find his brother or will he submit to Sable and the Conclave and reclaim his reign.

This is the first book I have read by this author and overall I was pretty impressed.
The story follows Reider, finally acknowledged as heir to his pack on his father's death bed, he chooses not to take it but instead goes off into the wilderness and hands the reins over to his younger brother. Here he stays until he is called back after his brother disappears, possibly dead. This also brings him back into contact with Sable, one of his few champions growing up and the one person he had trouble forgetting. He has to solve the mystery while trying to fight his attraction to Sable.
There was plenty of suspense, romance and twists in this, plus some hotness too. Kind of like a who-done-it with werewolves lol. It was well written and the story flowed well with good dialogue. My only real problem with this was that it was a fairly short book but had a lot packed into it. Sometimes things seemed a little rushed. At times I had trouble connecting with Reider and Sable and their attraction. But overall, like I said, I did enjoy it. I personally would have liked it fleshed out a little more.
I enjoyed this and, as I said, it's a fairly quick read but packs plenty in. If you're a fan of shifter romance than you will probably like this.
I would read more by this author.
