Blog Tour - Love In The City Series By Steph Nuss

Book One - Wanted By You

Carter was captivated by Ellyson Evans the moment he laid eyes on her,
but she was the one girl who didn't beg for his attention.
He wanted her.
Ellyson vowed to never fall in love, because love can destroy you,
but then she met Carter Jennings.
She wanted him.
Unwilling to risk their comfortable friendship, neither confessed their desires.
Losing touch after college, a chance meeting reconnects them.
They want each other.
But love in the city is never quite that easy.

My Review

Carter and Elly were friends in college. Both had feelings for each other but chose not to act upon them. They lost touch after college but when Carter takes a job as an English professor at their old college they meet again and start a relationship.

I enjoyed this story more than I was expecting to. I liked Carter and Elly. They were both well written characters with depth. Plus there were lots of great supporting characters, some of whom I'm sure will probably have their own stories later in the series.

The story was engaging. It was well written and flowed nicely with humour, emotion and some good dialogue.

My only real quibble is that everyone in the story was just too nice. Now that's not really a bad thing but I remember my rather scary English teacher in school barking at us about conflict in a story and I just felt this was lacking a little conflict. That's just my opinion however as I like a character to have a few flaws. It wasn't a major problem though and all in all it was a good solid start to what looks to be a promising series.

I give this book a solid 4 stars and look forward to more :)

Book Two -   Fantasized By You

Celebrity fashion designer, Harper Jennings is only months away from turning thirty, and her dream of living a happily ever after has yet to come true.
She's given up on her fantasy.
Personal trainer and gym owner, Maverick Jones isn't thrilled about having a designer mentoring in his new clinic, but after meeting the brunette beauty face-to-face, he dreams of having his way with her.
He's ready to turn his fantasy into reality.
But when their fantasies collide, love in the city becomes more complicated than they ever imagined.

My Review

We start after the events of the first book but this time we focus on Harper, Carter's sister and Maverick, Elly's childhood friend.

Harper has started questioning the way her life is going and has decided that she would like to change its direction and do more to help others. This brings her into contact with Maverick as she has volunteered to do mentoring at his new clinic.

Maverick has not had great experiences with the fashion industry and judges her harshly at first but this soon changes as neither of them are able to deny their attraction for each other.

Maverick and Harper were both good characters that I could connect with. It was also great to catch up with some of the characters we met in the first book. I thought some of Carter and Elly's wedding preparations were hilarious.

As with the first book the story flowed well and was well written. There was a little more conflict in this book which in my opinion definitely made it a more rounded story even though it was all still a little bit too sweet and nice for me. It was however an enjoyable read and will definitely leave you with a warm feeling when you finish.

A good addition to this series. I look forward to reading more in this series. I give this book 4.5 stars :)
